The Fountain of Life Church held its’ first service on February 7, 1983 in a rented parish house in Far Rockaway, NY. This property belonged to the Bethel Temple Church of God in Christ, pastored by the late Dr. Charles H. Jones, who was instrumental in the birth of our church.
As we experienced God’s blessings our membership increased to forty faithful believers by April of the same year. We prevailed in prayer for our own facility and God blessed us to relocate to 105 N. Franklin St., Hempstead, NY in March, 1984. The men of “The Fountain” worked diligently to renovate what had previously been a Chinese restaurant into a house of worship.
As our ministry continued to grow, it became apparent very soon that we would again have to find a new facility. We negotiated a contract to rent space in a local hotel. Just before we signed the contract, Bishop J. Raymond Mackey of Tabernacle of Joy Church in Uniondale, NY invited us to share their facility. Being grateful to God for again making a way for us, we moved our church administration office into the basement of then Pastor and Sis. Lyons home.
We then began holding our worship services at Tabernacle of Joy Church.
